How we met
It was August 2014…
- Fall 2013
The story began in the fall of 2013 when Kenneth sent an anonymous message to Jamaal via social media. Somehow, Jamaal never opened the message.
- A year later
Fast-forward a year; Kenneth made plans to spend the weekend in North Carolina with his mentor. After sitting in traffic for over an hour on I95, Kenneth turned around and headed back to Washington, DC.
- The profile
In typical form, Jamaal was enjoying a day of leisure (posting selfies) when he ran across Kenneth’s profile on “Christian Mingle.” The profile read, “Intelligent, fun-loving, low-key guy looking for the same (plus some charm)… Drop me a message if interested,” Jamaal did just that. A brief exchange of messages turned into a three-hour phone conversation.
- The stoop
Taken by Jamaal’s charm, Kenneth invited him over to meet in person. They spent two hours sitting on the stoop, swapping dating stories and getting to know each other. Taken by Kenneth’s personality, Jamaal invited him out for an official date – needless to say, the rest is history!
